At today's TownHall meeting which took place in Room 22 at 13:30, Staff Alliance voted to take further collective action in response to ILO's judgement to reverse the maligned paycut implemented by the UN last year about this time.
A range of options was discussed including a strike, work stoppage and publicity in the local and international media.
The ILO's judgement was a welcome step in the right direction but we need to keep the initiative going since for the UN Secretariat, it is the UN's Dispute Tribunal that has jurisdiction.
Of course it would be fundamentally unfair for the staff members doing the same work to receive different salaries, so the UN Dispute Tribunal should join ILO in reversing the ICSC's obviously politically motivated decision.
Staff Alliance believes that rigorous action is needed to inform the stakeholders about the patently unfair decision by the ICSC and restore UN staff in Geneva to their rightful salaries!
