aboutus

Staff Alliance was formed in 2016 in Geneva to effectively promote United Nations staff interests. We believe that Staff Coordinating Council should serve the interests of Geneva staff first, and then address larger, systemic issues. For too long, UN staff have been losing benefits and conditions of employment. It is absurd that UN Secretariat staff do not have a collective employment agreement and no unemployment insurance scheme. It is also unfair that their employment-related complaints cannot be taken up in local courts. Our current staff representatives have done little or nothing to stop or reverse this trend. In less than 10 years, we have lost permanent contracts, home leave entitlements, travel standards, education grant benefits, and recently many staff have lost on the average Fr. 700 per month in their compensation. Bad news keep piling up: from COVID-19 and related UN "liquidity" crisis, to headcount reductions among P and G staff in Geneva, not to mention imminent moving into "hotdesking" spaces in the new "H" building at Palais des Nations! Enough is enough. We must do things differently. Staff Alliance proposes to create "win-win" solutions that will make us more effective in our jobs and make our careers more secure and better paid. Please take a moment to read where we stand on individual issues and how YOU can get involved in shaping your own United Nations destiny! If you do not have time to get involved, please vote from the security and comfort of your own home this February 2021. Thank you!
